School opening delayed
McCreary County Schools Superintendent Donnie Wright announced today (Friday) that the first day of school has been delayed due to concerns with the McCreary Central High School renovation project.
“There will be a delay in Opening School this year as we want to make sure our new high school renovation is complete, safe and clean for all of our students, parents and staff,” Wright said. “The new Opening Day for teachers is Tuesday, August 25, and the 1st day of school for all students in our district is Wednesday, August 26.”
Wright noted the delay is not due to the construction not being complete, but rather the schools custodial needing time to move furniture and equipment back into the school from storage. It will take a few extra days to relocate all the equipment and set up the classrooms for use.
