A local man was flown to UK Tuesday evening after he was stabbed at least twice during an altercation at his Beulah Heights home. A local man was flown to UK Tuesday evening after he was stabbed at least twice during an altercation at his Beulah Heights home.
McCreary County Sheriff’s Deputy Jerry Meadows said Johnny Wilson, 30, was seriously injured Tuesday and his attacker is still on the loose.
Meadows responded to Wilson’s home following a call to the 911 Center that an altercation had occurred. Meadows said he is still trying to piece the details of the case together, but it appears as if a romantic escapade involving Wilson led to an estranged partner leading the attack.
“According to the victim, a male perpetrator entered his residence, which resulted in an altercation were Wilson was stabbed twice,” Deputy Meadows says. “Again, I am still trying to piece it all together, but the victim claims the female’s ‘old man’ was the attacker.”
Apparently, Wilson had recently met a woman at a department store in Williamsburg, who returned to McCreary County with him. Wilson told Meadows her male partner, whether the man is a husband or boyfriend is unclear, attacked him.
“From there, all we know is the male perpetrator fled the residence and we believe headed back to Whitley County along Hwy. 90,” Meadows said.
Deputy Meadows said the suspect was driving a red Chevrolet S-10 pickup. Law enforcement authorities in Whitley County were notified of the incident and asked to be on the lookout for the suspect.
Meadows said Wilson suffered “two serious” knife wounds to his lower abdomen and chest. He also had cut marks about his hands, evidence he tried to fight off his attacker,” Meadows said. After investigation and examination of the knife wounds, Meadows believes Wilson was attacked with a pocketknife.
Wilson was treated near the scene (he had actually left his residence and was located a short distance down the road) by McCreary County EMS and airlifted to the University of Kentucky for medical treatment. Meadows was unsure of his condition at press time.
Wilson’s assailant has still not been located and remains unknown at this time,” Meadows said.
”There is no reason to believe the victim is being deceptive, but if all he is saying is accurate we will piece it together and figure out who is responsible,” Deputy Meadows says.
The investigation, which is ongoing, is being led by Deputy Meadows. Anyone with information pertaining to the case is encouraged to contact the McCreary County Sheriff’s Office by calling (606) 376-2322.
